Here is a short video of me playing parts A and B - still needs improvement before the exam and as you can see, I totally missed the string dampings.

Also I have a tendancy to rush things when the camera is on, so this is played a little too fast.

Time to go back and do some more practice.

Just tried playing the waltz through with the string dampings and here's the thing: When I play the E on the 4th string, the 6th string E seems to vibrate harmonically in sympathy with it.

So dampinig the E on the 4th string has almost no effect to the way it sounds, because the harmonic E is still sounding on the 6th string making it impossible to produce effective string dampings in the A part in the normal way.

Anyone else had this problem?

I had not thought about it.
Your performance is going very well.
Dynamics and changes of tempo are distinguished.
Good job DaveMoutrie! :okok:

Thank you David, I look forward to hearing you play some time.

I am currently working on tone and dynamics. The challenge with a relatively easy piece like this is to make it pleasant for others to listen to.

Yes, no problem David. I'm afraid there's not too much there at the moment - apart from the D03 pieces. I'm planning on posting some more pieces after we have finished the exam.

Okay, I'll upload a tape to this site before I post the exam.
But I have not worked much waltz yet. I want to complete lesson nº 9 of D03
See you soon!

I thought the damping is for the open G string. The middle E should have stopped at the second beat of the measure (by lifting the fretting finger). On my guitar the open E sympathy resonance is not very noticeable. And with the middle E already stopped, the thumb can be used on the open E if necessary.
My brain refuses to memorize this piece, so I have to play from sight, and so far (practices on 3 consecutive days) and have not been able to make a clean clip :(

I get both A and E sympathetic but not loud enough to cause a problem - at least we'll see when the recording starts :chaud:

Hi. I think it's pretty good.
There is an error in the repetition of the last mill, but it is not very noticeable.
Good job chu bun
